Early in the morning, you will transfer to Nyungwe forest NP. The park is located approximately 6 hours from Kigali. If interested you will have a stop at the cultural museum en route.

Here’s to a full day enjoying the magical surroundings of Nyungwe Forest National Park! In the morning you will go for an exhilarating primate walk in search of the forest inhabitant – chimpanzees.
In the afternoon, at leisure, or choose to be adventurous and walk on a canopy!

From Nyungwe Forest, you continue to Lake Kivu for some relaxation time. This lake is the largest lake in Rwanda and is known to offer its visitors relaxation opportunities. It is wonderfully located with mountains and green hills in view.

After breakfast, transfer up northwards to the gorilla highlands. Volcanoes national park is the only place where you can see the endangered mountain gorillas in the wild in Rwanda. It is a once-in-a-lifetime activity.

Wake up early and after breakfast, you will be taken to the park headquarters which is a short 15-20minutes drive for a briefing before the activity. From here, depending on where the mountain gorilla family is, you may be driven to where your tracking will start.

You will make a stunning hike through the green landscape of the Virunga, in search of the endangered gorillas. After finding them, you will spend a fairy-tale hour with these amazing creatures before returning to your lodge.

In case of time permits, you can visit the twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo: two beautiful lakes situated at the base of the Muhabura Volcano.

Just like the previous day, this day will follow suit – an early wake with breakfast and pre-briefing then head into the jungle for golden monkey trekking.

Golden monkeys are rare species, known to be endangered, and also known to have unique characteristics. In Rwanda, they can be found living in the Virunga Mountains. They are easily recognized by the yellow patches distributed all over their bodies. Later go back to your lodge to stay and rest.

Have a relaxed breakfast and enjoy the beautiful scenery one more time as we calmly transfer back to Kigali. Depending on the time of your international flight you will be dropped at Kigali International Airport.
