This is a perfect itinerary for those that have had an adventure in the savannah parks and are now looking for an up close encounter with the fascinating chimpanzees and the world’s largest apes that we sometimes like to call, “the Gentle Giants.” This itinerary will also give you an opportunity to spot the rare tree climbing lions of Ishasha, Queen Elizabeth national park.
After breakfast in Kampala, we journey through the beautiful landscapes of central Uganda, heading to Fort portal. Upon arrival in Kibale we head straight to the briefing points in preparation for the afternoon Chimpanzee tracking activity.
Check out of the safari lodge after breakfast and we set out for a brief tour of Bigodi swamp, an opportunity that will bring us up close to various primate species and birds. From our thrilling Bigodi adventure we embark on our journey to the scenic queen Elizabeth to explore the Kazinga channel.
In the morning after breakfast and checking out of your safari lodge, we will transfer with our packed lunch to Bwindi. Along the way we take advantage of the Ishasha sector that gives us the opportunity to view the rare tree climbing lions. If lucky, we will get to spot a few before we exit for Bwindi. Upon our arrival in Bwindi, check into the safari lodge for dinner and some well earned rest.
Briefing at the park offices after your breakfast. You will be allocated to gorilla tracking groups and given tips to prepare you for what to expect while on a close encounter with the gentle giants. Return from the deep forest to receive your gorilla tracking certificate. Return to the lodge for an evening of relaxation or choose to have a community walk and get close and personal with the local people.
With our week of fun filled memories, we wave goodbye to the impenetrable forest to begin the journey back to Kampala. En-route, we will have a lunch stop and another picturesque moment at the Uganda equator.
